Zettelkasten: German word for slip box
Extensively used by: Niklas Luhmann (1927–1998), self taught sociologist who's highly productive (tens of books, hundreds of research papers), and credited productivity to the note taking method.
Original slip box is implemented with cards and boxes. Now it's easier with an app.
